In occasione dell’anno giubilare agatino (1126–2026), che celebra il 900° anniversario del ritorno delle reliquie di Sant’Agata da Costantinopoli a Catania, la rivista Quaderni LEIF dedica il numero 28/2026 alla sua figura, emblema identitario della città e patrimonio culturale universale.
Il volume intende offrire uno spazio di riflessione interdisciplinare sul tema delle figurazioni del femminile nella tradizione del mito, della religione e della filosofia, assumendo Sant’Agata come punto di convergenza simbolica e culturale. La sua figura, infatti, si presta a essere indagata non solo nella dimensione agiografica e devozionale, ma anche come modello di rappresentazione del femminile tra resistenza, identità, corporeità e trascendenza. Infine, il volume è pensato “dal territorio per il territorio”, come attenzione al patrimonio culturale della terra in cui si svolge la missione culturale accademica ordinaria.

- Sant’Agata tra storia, devozione e costruzione identitaria
- Iconografia e narrazioni artistiche del femminile sacro
- Tradizioni popolari e culto
- Prospettive contemporanee sul femminile tra religione e società
Contributi a tema libero
Ci sarà anche la possibilità di accogliere, per la pubblicazione nel suddetto volume, un massimo di due contributi a tema libero, che dovranno seguire le norme indicate per i contributi sull’argomento proposto.
Lingue accettate: italiano, inglese, tedesco, spagnolo, francese.
Norme per gli articoli
- L’abstract, approssimativamente di 3.000 battute, deve essere accompagnato, nel medesimo file word, da nome e cognome, affiliazione istituzionale, indirizzo e-mail e breve curriculum scientifico dell’autore o degli autori.
- Gli articoli, redatti in italiano o in altre lingue (inglese, francese, tedesco, spagnolo), dovranno avere una lunghezza compresa tra 25.000 e 30.000 battute.
- Tutti i saggi saranno sottoposti a peer review in doppio cieco.
- Tutti gli articoli dovranno essere consegnati in formato word, seguendo le norme metodologiche della rivista, presenti nella sezione del sito web dedicata.

Figurations of the Feminine in the Traditions of Myth, Religion, and Philosophy

On the occasion of the Agatine Jubilee Year (1126–2026), celebrating the 900th anniversary of the return of the relics of Saint Agatha from Constantinople to Catania, the journal Quaderni LEIF dedicates Issue 28/2026 to her figure, an emblem of the city’s identity and a universal cultural heritage.
This volume aims to provide an interdisciplinary space for reflection on the theme of figurations of the feminine in the traditions of myth, religion, and philosophy, taking Saint Agatha as a point of symbolic and cultural convergence. Her figure lends itself to investigation not only in its hagiographic and devotional dimension, but also as a model for representing the feminine in terms of resistance, identity, corporeality, and transcendence. Finally, the volume is conceived as “from the territory for the territory,” with particular attention to the cultural heritage of the land in which academic cultural work is carried out.

- Philosophical interpretations of the feminine
- Saint Agatha between history, devotion, and identity construction

- Popular traditions and cult practices
- Contemporary perspectives on the feminine between religion and society
Open Topic Contributions
A maximum of two open-topic papers may also be considered for publication in the same volume. These contributions must comply with the same editorial standards and submission requirements established for the thematic papers.
Accepted languages: Italian, English, German, Spanish, French.
Submission Guidelines
- The abstract, approximately 3,000 characters in length, must be accompanied, within the same Word file, by the author’s (or authors’) name and surname, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, and a brief academic biography.
- Articles, written in Italian or other languages (English, French, German, Spanish), should have a length between 25,000 and 30,000 characters (including spaces).
- All papers will undergo double-blind peer review.
- All submissions must be delivered in Word format, following the journal’s editorial guidelines available in the dedicated section of the website.
- Abstracts and articles must be submitted, within the indicated deadlines, to the following e-mail address: quadernileifunict@gmail.com

Presentazione del tema
Il concetto di felicità costituisce uno dei nodi centrali della riflessione filosofico-morale, dalla tradizione antica fino al dibattito contemporaneo. La felicità è stata intesa come eudaimonia, piacere, virtù, benessere soggettivo, armonia sociale o realizzazione collettiva. Essa rappresenta, al tempo stesso, un orizzonte esistenziale e una questione politica, etica e antropologica.
Questo numero tematico della Rivista Quaderni Leif intende raccogliere contributi che esaminino criticamente la nozione di felicità nelle sue molteplici articolazioni teoriche e pratiche, favorendo il dialogo tra prospettive storiche e analisi concettuali.

Theme
The concept of happiness constitutes one of the central issues of moral and philosophical reflection, from ancient thought to contemporary debates. Happiness has been understood as eudaimonia, pleasure, virtue, subjective well-being, social harmony, or collective fulfilment. It represents, at the same time, an existential horizon and a political, ethical, and anthropological question.
This thematic issue of Quaderni Leif aims to collect contributions that critically examine the notion of happiness in its multiple theoretical and practical articulations, fostering dialogue between historical perspectives and conceptual analyses.
